Role Purpose:

  • The purpose of the Guidewire Architect role is to:
  • Define end-to-end solutions for IT change, focusing on the Guidewire Insurance suite.
  • Create architecture to support broker connectivity, integrating with the Guidewire PolicyCenter to BMS vendors.
  • Create Guidewire-centric designs that are fit for purpose from a functional, non-functional, service, and security point of view.
  • Deliver solutions that progress the overall architecture journey and are aligned to the organization’s IT strategy.
  • Comply with standards, design approaches, and governance.

Nature of Work:

Solutions and Assurance:

  • Create solutions and designs for Guidewire Insurance platform (Guidewire PolicyCenter, Guidewire ClaimCenter, Guidewire BillingCenter, Guidewire Contact Manager) based projects to meet organisational standards for technology and ensure they meet the ambitions for availability, security, resilience, and performance.
  • Produce Guidewire design and migration options with associated costs, benefits, and risks to enable investment decisions.
  • Create migration solutions to convert policies from legacy systems to Guidewire PolicyCenter.
  • Work with product owners, enterprise architects, platform teams, and other project colleagues to agree trade-offs between long-term and short-term goals.
  • Responsible for the integrity of the end-to-end Guidewire solution across platforms, including transition states used to achieve the target state.
  • Shape and estimate IT initiatives and feature team sprints, ensuring that component parts deliver against business outcomes.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Record any solution debt incurred during the transition phase of the solution and address the same in future phases.
  • Identify potential risks and challenges associated with proposed solutions.
  • Develop mitigation strategies to address identified risks.
  • Participate in post-implementation reviews and provide feedback to improve future solution designs.

Technical Leadership:

  • Keep up with technological developments in the Guidewire platform, Guidewire integration, and evaluate how well they fit into the organization's architecture.
  • Evaluate Guidewire Cloud Platform features, assess its capabilities against business needs, and recommend for adoption.
  • Support defining the architecture best practices and standards in the Guidewire space and enforcing them in the project solutions.
  • Conduct architecture reviews to ensure compliance with established guidelines.
  • Ensure design artifacts are produced to support stakeholder groups for service, security, architecture, and engineering.
  • Peer reviews the design artifacts of others.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and training to less experienced team members as required.
  • Design Community Membership:
    • Contribute to the Solution Architecture community, leading or participating in initiatives to improve the organization's approach to design.
    • Develop technical skills to support the organization's need to understand and exploit emerging technology trends.

Capabilities

  • Proven experience in the Guidewire Insurance suite including Guidewire PolicyCenter, Guidewire ClaimCenter, Contact Manager, Guidewire Edge.
  • Proven experience in Broker Connectivity – Integrating PolicyCenter to BMS systems for various use cases.
  • Experience in Guidewire Cloud Platform capabilities and cloud migration approaches/options.
  • Experience in using APD and Integration Framework in solving business problems.
  • Experience in architecting integration solutions involving Guidewire to the ecosystem’s applications, including document, finance, and payment exposure.
  • Experience in integration architecture design and implementation.
  • Knowledge of digital technologies, cloud computing, and modern development practices.
  • Certified in the public cloud (AWS or Azure).
  • Strong knowledge of end-to-end project lifecycle methodologies (mainly agile).
  • Strong technical experience. This may be broad experience with the ability to apply it across a variety of customer and business scenarios.
  • The role holder must care about technology and how to exploit it for the benefit of customers.
  • Financial acumen to support development of business cases and to inform key design decisions.
