Role Details
- Position: Project Manager (IT) – Senior
- Work Mode: Primarily Remote within Canada
- Location: Edmonton, Alberta
- Contract Period: 1 year (Extension Up to 6 months)
- Hours: 36.25 hours per week
- Standard Hours: 8:15 AM – 4:30 PM Alberta time, Monday to Friday
Work Arrangement
- Primarily Remote within Canada
- Must be available to attend onsite meetings or work sessions in Edmonton when required, with reasonable notice. Onsite meetings may occur up to 3–4 times per month.
- Work must be performed from within Canada due to network and data security requirements.
- Candidate must provide their own computer and related equipment. Windows is preferred due to compatibility with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD).
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and complete IT projects, overseeing project scope, timelines, resources, deliverables, and overall progress.
- Develop project charters, business/project plans, schedules, work plans, and requirements documentation.
- Manage projects involving business requirements, IT solution design, and delivery while ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture.
- Develop recommendations covering resource requirements, dependencies, interdependencies, policy implications, project methodology, and other project considerations.
- Manage multiple projects, project resources, governance activities, risks, issues, dependencies, and budgets.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with project sponsors, business and IT leadership, vendors, internal teams, and other stakeholders.
- Develop project organization structures with clearly defined roles and responsibilities.
- Monitor and report project status against objectives, milestones, budgets, resources, risks, and issues.
- Develop project schedules and strategies, estimate resource requirements, monitor work plans, and take corrective action where required.
- Provide guidance to project resources on work priorities and timely completion of project tasks.
- Prepare and present project deliverables and status information to internal teams, steering committees, senior management, and other stakeholders.
- Support effective project communication and escalate risks and issues as required.
- Provide leadership and support for change management and communication activities.
- Assess project outcomes and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Work within established project management standards and collaborate with the project management office to develop standards where required.
- Maintain strong stakeholder relationships and support successful project delivery and client satisfaction.
Must-Haves
- Education / Project Management Experience: Meet or exceed one of the following:
- University graduation in business, management, or related discipline and 8 years of Project Management experience; OR
- Two-year diploma in business, management, or related discipline and 10 years of Project Management experience; OR
- One-year certificate in business, management, or related discipline and 11 years of Project Management experience; OR
- 12 years of Project Management experience.
- PMP Certification: PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- 15 years of experience developing project schedule plans and strategies, estimating resource requirements, and developing and monitoring work plans for completion of project tasks.
- 15 years of experience identifying, analyzing, and managing project risks on large, complex projects.
- 5 years of experience implementing cloud-based projects and services with large-scale cloud providers.
Nice-to-Haves
- 15 years of experience developing and delivering targeted communications and presentations tailored to diverse audiences, ensuring clarity and alignment with organizational objectives.
- 15 years of experience understanding the impact of policies, processes, and procedures on performance.
- 15 years of experience leading and facilitating meetings with stakeholders at all levels.
- 10 years of experience leading large enterprise-scale projects and programs using Agile and Waterfall methodologies, establishing governance frameworks such as RACI, managing RAID elements including risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies, overseeing vendors and external service providers, and driving stakeholder alignment through effective communication.
- 15 years of experience applying security controls in project solutions and designs, including Information Act requirements and controls related to STRA, PIA, POPA, and HIA.
- 15 years of experience with Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning.
- 12 years of experience implementing AI projects and services for large-scale organizations.
- 15 years of experience with process improvement, documentation, and requirements gathering.
- 7 years of experience working in or for the public sector.
