Software Developer – Full Stack – Senior

Position Overview

• Senior Full Stack Developer responsible for designing, developing, testing, and supporting a modern web-based reporting application.
• Re-platform existing reporting solutions and business logic into a modern Java / Angular web application.
• Work across front-end, back-end, APIs, databases, Azure deployment, and CI/CD.
• Ensure solutions meet performance, scalability, maintainability, security, and accessibility standards.

Work Arrangement

• Work Mode: Onsite
• Schedule: 5 days per week
• Location: Toronto, Ontario
• Contract: Contract engagement (End Date: 31-03-2027)
• Security Clearance: No clearance required
• Extension: Up to 1 additional extension

Responsibilities

• Design and develop responsive, accessible, and functional Angular front-end applications.
• Develop Java-based backend services and REST APIs.
• Design and integrate front-end applications with REST APIs.
• Re-engineer and migrate existing reporting, SQL, and business logic into a modern web application.
• Work with relational databases and develop, refactor, and optimize SQL queries.
• Design and deploy databases supporting the application.
• Design and implement overall full stack solution architecture.
• Develop unit tests and automated UI test coverage.
• Deploy and support applications in a Microsoft Azure environment.
• Support and maintain CI/CD pipelines, including Azure DevOps.
• Ensure applications are scalable, maintainable, and performant.
• Develop source code according to specifications and maintain it in version control.
• Prepare technical documentation and API documentation.
• Participate in knowledge transfer sessions with technical teams.
• Collaborate with IT professionals, business teams, and stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Work within Agile/Scrum development environments.
• Work independently and deliver production-ready components with minimal supervision.

Must-Have Requirements

• 8+ years of experience developing large-scale, production business applications using Java for backend/API development.
• 5+ years of experience with Angular or a comparable modern JavaScript/TypeScript framework for front-end development.
• Strong experience with full stack development, including front-end, back-end, databases, and DevOps.
• Demonstrated experience with end-to-end solution architecture for web-based applications.
• Strong experience with relational databases and SQL.
• Experience reverse engineering, interpreting, refactoring, and re-platforming existing reporting/query logic, such as WebFOCUS or equivalent BI/reporting tools.
• Experience designing and building REST APIs.
• Experience deploying and supporting applications in Microsoft Azure.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, such as Azure DevOps.
• 5+ years of experience working with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of delivery timelines.

Desirable Skills

• Experience or working knowledge of WebFOCUS.
• Working knowledge of Power BI.
• Working knowledge of Databricks.
• Knowledge of AODA and related accessibility standards.
• Experience preparing system and technical documentation.
• Experience working in a broader public-sector IT environment.
• Knowledge of Ontario Digital Service standards.
• Strong business acumen and ability to work with business teams and leadership to understand priorities and deliver business value.
