Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Data Analyst with strong expertise in Power BI, data modeling, and analytical reporting to support environmental monitoring and regulatory data initiatives within a large-scale government environment.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with complex datasets, validating enterprise data models, and delivering analytical insights through scalable reporting solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Data Analysis & Validation
- Validate canonical data elements and Unified Business Object (UBO) model assumptions
- Analyze environmental and regulatory datasets to support operational and reporting requirements

Identify:
- Data inconsistencies
- Edge cases
- Data quality issues
- Gaps in reporting logic and aggregation behavior
- Support enterprise analytical validation and data architecture initiatives
Power BI Development & Reporting
- Design, develop, and optimize advanced Power BI reports and dashboards

Create analytical views and reporting solutions for:
- Trend analysis
- Aggregation validation
- Reporting scalability assessments
- Ensure reporting solutions support enterprise-wide analytics and business intelligence needs
Data Modeling & Enterprise Support
- Support enterprise data modeling and analytical initiatives
- Work with large and complex datasets across multiple data sources
- Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to validate reporting and analytical requirements
- Provide evidence-based recommendations for data-driven decision-making
Required Qualifications
Education
-
Degree or diploma in:
- Business
- Information Technology
- Data Analytics
- Or a related field
Experience
-
3+ years of experience performing:
- Business analysis
- Data-focused analysis
- Data validation activities
- 3+ years of hands-on experience developing advanced Power BI solutions
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Experience working with large and complex datasets
- Ability to communicate analytical findings effectively to both technical and business stakeholders

Work Environment
- Hybrid role within Alberta
- Primarily remote with occasional onsite meetings
- Candidates must work remotely from within Alberta
- Standard business hours aligned to Alberta time zone

- Candidate must provide their own equipment compatible with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD)
