Position: Junior Cybersecurity Analyst
Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Network Security Analyst to join our Cybersecurity team. In this role, you will play a critical part in safeguarding network infrastructure against cyber threats by implementing, monitoring, and reviewing network security tools and controls. You will also work closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure secure, resilient, and compliant network operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain policies on network tools to defend against cyber-attacks.
- Review and optimize firewall rules to mitigate malicious threats and prevent unauthorized activity.
- Analyze network traffic logs during security investigations and incident response activities.
- Monitor, track, and document security incidents using SIEMs, ticketing systems, and alerting platforms.
- Conduct periodic testing of network infrastructure and assess overall system health.
- Stay up to date on the latest security threats and recommend updates for NGIPS systems.
- Prepare tailored security reporting for management and provide project support as needed.
- Build and maintain relationships with key internal business teams and external suppliers.
- Lead and prioritize incident management processes from initiation through resolution.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of operational and project documentation.
- Perform additional duties related to cybersecurity operations as assigned.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or equivalent experience.
- Relevant cybersecurity certification (e.g., Security+, Network+, CCNA).
- 1–3 years of experience in enterprise IT environments with a focus on network security.
- Hands-on expertise with Proxies, Firewalls, SIEM, NGIPS, Wireshark, and CDN technologies.
- Practical knowledge of proxy administration and design (experience with WSS, ProxySG, PACs is an asset).
- Strong understanding of gateway security threats and preventative technologies/controls.
- Familiarity with international security/privacy standards, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Solid knowledge of operating systems (Windows, UNIX) and networking protocols.
- Strong grasp of networking fundamentals: IP addressing, OSI layers, routers, switches, and related threats/defenses.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced cybersecurity certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH).
- Experience in financial services or other compliance-driven environments.
- Exposure to ITIL or other operational frameworks.
