GCP Dataplex Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled GCP Dataplex Engineer to design and implement scalable data governance an and security frameworks, and data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform. The ideal candidate will play a key role in operationalising governance for sensitive telecom datasets (such as NETSCOUT and Sandvine probe data) using Dataplex, BigQuery, and Composer (Airflow).

This role focuses on transforming uncontrolled data access environments into secure, governed, and reusable enterprise-grade data platforms aligned with modern governance standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement Dataplex Lakes, Zones, and asset structures aligned with Medallion Architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold)
• Register and manage data assets across BigQuery and Google Cloud Storage (GCS)
• Define and implement metadata tagging strategies including:
  • Data classification
  • Ownership
  • Sensitivity labels
• Configure data lineage tracking across ingestion and transformation pipelines
• Build and enhance Composer (Airflow) pipelines with embedded governance controls
• Implement Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and fine-grained security including:
  • Row-level security
  • Column-level security
  • Data masking
• Apply encryption and KMS-based controls for sensitive telecom data such as IMSI/subscriber information
• Develop Dataplex data quality rules and automate validation checks for:
  • Missing data
  • Delays
  • Data anomalies
• Configure monitoring, alerting, and observability dashboards for SLA compliance and data reliability
• Enable and publish governed data products aligned with business use cases
• Automate infrastructure and governance deployments using Pulumi or Terraform
• Produce low-level architecture designs and reusable governance patterns

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with:
  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • BigQuery
  • Composer (Airflow)
  • Google Cloud Storage (GCS)
  • Dataplex
• Expertise in data governance and security implementation including:
  • RBAC
  • Data classification
  • Data security controls
• Strong SQL and Python programming skills
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Pulumi or Terraform
• Familiarity with data quality frameworks and observability practices

Preferred Background

• Experience working with telecom or highly sensitive enterprise datasets
• Strong understanding of enterprise data governance frameworks
• Ability to design scalable, reusable, and secure data platform solutions
