Quality Engineer - Commercial Auto Insurance

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join our Commercial Auto technology team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in fast-paced, collaborative environments and is passionate about driving quality excellence throughout the software development lifecycle.

The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to design and execute robust test strategies, ensure high-quality deliverables, and contribute to continuous improvement across testing practices.

Length of Contract: 10 Months

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute comprehensive project test strategies and plans.
  • Review user stories, requirements, and technical design documents to provide timely and actionable QA feedback.
  • Prepare detailed test cases, scenarios, and estimates; manage end-to-end test execution.
  • Provide clear and concise test status updates, escalate issues, and report test metrics to project stakeholders.
  • Contribute to productivity and process improvements within the QA and development lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain automation frameworks and risk-based regression test suites.
  • Conduct walkthroughs of test artifacts and collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Ensure all quality standards, compliance requirements, and documentation controls are met.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in test design, automation, and delivery practices.

Qualifications

Must Have:

  • Minimum 5+ years of hands-on software testing experience (manual and automation).
  • Background in the Canadian Commercial Insurance industry.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and deliver results under pressure.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with an ownership mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills — both verbal and written.
  • Team-oriented attitude with a focus on collaboration and shared success.
  • Commitment to process simplification and continuous improvement.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Selenium or similar automation tools.
  • Exposure to Guidewire applications or other insurance platforms.
