Job Overview

You are a highly motivated Scrum Master who can drive delivery in alignment with organizational mandates and goals. You are strong in Agile project management practices and possess both business and technical acumen. You support the team to achieve results within the constraints of budget, schedule, and scope. Key Responsibilities

Facilitating Scrum Events

  • Organize and lead Scrum ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily scrums, sprint reviews, and sprint retrospectives.

Removing Impediments

  • Identify and remove obstacles that hinder the team's progress, whether they are technical, organizational, or interpersonal.

Coaching and Mentoring

  • Coach the team on Scrum principles and practices, helping them become a high-performing, self-organizing team.

Promoting Collaboration

  • Foster communication and collaboration within the team and with stakeholders, ensuring alignment and effective teamwork.

Ensuring Adherence to Frameworks

  • Help the team understand and follow Scrum rules and values, ensuring delivery follows established best practices and governance frameworks.

Managing Expectations

  • Manage expectations around timelines and deliverables, ensuring transparency and accountability.

Resolving Conflicts

  • Help resolve conflicts within the team and between the team and other stakeholders.

Core Delivery Responsibilities

  1. Enforce discipline of Scrum and Agile practices.
  2. Facilitate sprint planning, including estimation of user stories and defining frameworks for story splits (BA/Dev/QA).
  3. Conduct sprint reporting—review burndown, spillover, and sprint deliverables tied to the integrated plan.
  4. Lead sprint retrospectives, identifying what went well and areas for improvement.
  5. Manage capacity planning and velocity, ensuring optimal resource allocation.
  6. Maintain hygiene of user stories and acceptance criteria.
  7. Collaborate with the Product Owner for backlog grooming and prioritization.
  8. Identify and escalate risks in a timely manner.
  9. Manage dependencies at the user story level across tools like JIRA and SharePoint.
  10. Facilitate Scrum events efficiently—time-bound and focused.
  11. Resolve blockers within a 24-hour turnaround.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Scrum Certification: Scrum Master certification (e.g., PSM, CSM) preferred.
  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Strong facilitation, communication, and conflict-resolution abilities.
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to lead and influence without direct authority.
  • Problem-Solving: Capable of quickly identifying and resolving issues.
  • Agile Mindset: Deep understanding and appreciation for Agile principles and values.
  • Experience: Guidewire experience required; prior Agile experience in the insurance industry preferred.
